I studied German Studies in Paris and moved to Berlin as a post-doc. There, I then led a junior research group studying intellectual networks in Berlin around 1800. I specialized in digital methods for heritage research, and more recently on the environmental impact of digital technologies in the context of heritage research. I published a book in 2023 on this topic, “From Handwriting to Footprinting. Text and Heritage in the Age of Climate Crisis” (OBP, Cambridge). I am currently on leave from my professorship and work as a research officer for the European Research Infrastructure DARIAH. I have been active with Scientist Rebellion since 2022.
