Guillaume Mandil has a Ph.D. in mechanical and industrial engineering. He is a Professor and a Researcher in engineering sciences at Université Grenoble Alpes since 2012 and a member of the INRIA STEEP team since 2018. His research questions the place of technologies in the environmental sustainability perspective. Since joining the STEEP team, Guillaume works in particular on the environmental assessment of sociotechnical organizations.
Talk: What role for (ICT) technologies in a sustainability perspective?
This talk will discuss the role that technology can play in achieving environmental sustainability. It will attempt to inform the distinction that seems necessary between goals and strategies for achieving them. The presentation will also give some hints on how to limit the strategies of technological progress in order to control the rebound and systemic effects induced by these strategies.
